New Events + Schedule Update

7 Dec 2023 by Adam Brown - Central Oregon USASA

Hello Central Oregon USASA family + friends!

We were off to a solid start with Mt. Bachelor opening, but got some unfortunate rain as you may know, and now we’re back in the much welcomed storm mode and more snow…so keep those crazy snow dances and prayers coming!

Also, we wanted to give an important update about a recent change + we added competitions to our Event Schedule that you need to be aware of, especially if you’re already registered for our Boardercross Ski Cross 1 & 2 (BXSX), although it probably won’t make too much of a negative impact hopefully.

In order to provide more opportunities for our athletes + have more comps, which = more points to qualify for USASA Nationals, as well as several requests from you for the same, and because we’re limited to the days we’re given to do comps, and we only have access to one mountain (I’ve been trying to get on other local mountains to no avail yet), we confirmed adding two more Rail Jams (RJ) this season! To do this, we had to combine BXSX 1 & 2 to the same day (Sat, Feb 10), so we were able to then add two Rail Jams the next day (Sun, Feb 11). So we now have a total of 4 RJ comps. For those trying to be our Regional Champ for your discipline and age group in our series, this means 3 of the 4 RJ comps will be considered for our champions (regional champs get an invite to USASA Nationals…so it’s a big deal). Please see below for final dates and details for our events:

This is our Final Event Schedule for 2024 at Mt. Bachelor:

Jan 20, Saturday: USASA Slope 1
Jan 21, Sunday: USASA Slope 2
Feb 3, Saturday: USASA Slope 3
Feb 10, Saturday: USASA BXSX 1 & 2
Feb 11, Sunday: USASA Rail Jam 1 & 2
Feb 24, Saturday: USASA Halfpipe 1 & 2
Mar 2, Saturday: USASA Rail Jam 3 & 4
Mar 3, Sunday: WEATHER DAY (only if any rescheduled comps)

We already had almost 20 registered for our BXSX 1 & 2 events, so again, if this is you, please know that these are both going to be on Sat, Feb 10, and we now have a double Rail Jam 1 & 2 on Sun, Feb 11. What’s this mean besides the above? Well, we’re going to have two different BXSX races on the same day now (which is new for our series). This also means in order make this all happen, we’re going to be seeding riders for BXSX racing based on their National’s ranking for BXSX, and if you don’t have National’s points, you will be seeded randomly via the USASA software. So there will be lots of fun and racing this day, and probably much less waiting around. And yes, we’ll also have practice too…so sign up to do both BXSX and RJs if you didn’t already.

We will have more details now that we have all our dates confirmed, and will be promoting + updating everything as we have time…so stay tuned!

(We’ll also be reaching out to the BXSX 1 & 2 registrants shortly too.)

➡️ TWO MORE NEEDS (if you can help us please): We still need help reaching out to more businesses who would like to become a sponsorship partner with our USASA (we have some amazing reasons why, as well as a packet with different levels that we can get them if you can make the intro for us…and we can use both funds and product…even a food sponsor helps a ton for lunches day-of for our volunteers and judges), as well as the need for more volunteers. AND…if you’re ready to step it up even more and help me (Adam) run some events and shadow me as a TS (Technical Supervisor), it’s a lot of fun (and some work and responsibility), and there’s of course some perks that I can share with you if so…so just reach out to me. We’ll also get you certified with USASA if interested, and it’s a good fit.

Thanks again, be safe, pray for snow, tag us in your social media + send us your vids to share, let us know if any questions…and we’ll shred soon,
