USASA Nationals Info + Updates!

8 Mar by Adam Brown - Central Oregon USASA

We’re just around the corner for USASA Nationals, and this year there is a ton of new processes and information in place that are very different than previous years. Please read the below and check out the links on USASA.org (see below) about Nationals so that you become as familiar as possible, and don’t miss any opportunities to be able to compete.

TEAM HOODIES (+ shirts & hats):
If you don’t know, every year we have team hoodies made for our whole series (including parents, siblings, grandparents, as gifts, etc.)! This is a great way to represent us out there whether you’re spring riding at Bachy, and especially at Nationals! We do require them for Nationals since every series wears theirs in the opening ceremonies, and it’s also an easy way to find people from our series while at Copper. We try to keep these as affordable as we can, and you’ll have a limited amount of time to put in your pre-order starting next week so we get them in time for those going to Nationals. Stay tuned for more info the next few days…

MAIN USASA NATIONALS INFO:

SERIES RESULTS + NATIONALS RANKINGS
Due to all the new systems in place this season, we want you to review your results and points to make sure everything looks good for any series you competed in. The more eyes that help each series check these things out ahead of time, the better, and also so we can fix anything ahead of time (everything may look great too).

HALFPIPE & SLOPESTYLE, SL/GS:
Since we were not able to have a Halfpipe or snowboard SL/GS races this season, there may still be some options for you and Nationals, esp. if you also did our Slopestyle events (for HP), so read here + below… https://www.usasa.org/resources/2024-2025-rulebook/

Rulebook 103.01.E: For athletes who compete in disciplines we do not hold in our series. This is particularly helpful for any cancelled half pipes this year, and also since we do not host SL/GS (Slalom/Giant Slalom) Snowboard races (for multiple reasons). Rulebook 103.06.B: For athletes who receive a slopestyle qualification, as you can also request a HP qualification from USASA. “Halfpipe invitations may be extended to those competitors who have attained a slopestyle invitation if there are remaining positions available at the National Championships." You will need to do this March 12-17 by signing up for both “intend to compete” lists. See National’s link for more details. COUSASA REGIONAL CHAMPS:
1. Remember that if you met our series’ requirements to be our Regional Champion, you will get a spot for that discipline/division at Nationals. Req’s: Best 5 of 6 for Rail Jam, Best 2 of 2 for Boardercross Ski Cross, Best 2 of 3 for Slopestyle. Youngest take the proper steps for the invite process this year, because this is not automatic as in previous seasons.m (as we explain in this update)

2. If there are any ties, please bring that to our attention, as there usually are a few, and we’ll have to break those based on the USASA Rulebook.

COACHES @ NATIONALS:
SB Coach Registration is available here: https://liveheats.com/events/341402
FS Coach Registration is available here: https://liveheats.com/events/341403

WAX TECHS @ NATIONALS:
Interested in being a wax tech and have the skills that follow? Wax techs can now easily be at the start with Coaches and Athletes. They just need a USASA officials membership, and current US Ski & Snowboard officials membership (which can take time). Here are the links to register for Nationals as a wax tech:

Snowboard Week: https://liveheats.com/events/346877 Freeski Week: https://liveheats.com/events/346910 NATIONAL ANTHEM:
Do you have mad singing skills and want to try and participate on stage at Nationals by leading thousands in the National Anthem during the opening ceremonies?

As you can see, there is a lot of information and it can be very overwhelming, especially this year since much of it is new. The more you read and digest it all, click around and look over things, also ask coaches…and then us…the more it starts to make sense. Perhaps the most important parts are ensuring your results and points are accurate at the Regional Series and National levels, that you’re familiar with the new invite process and key dates (all these links have been shared here)…and getting a place reserved to stay at…we’ll share more about this in another update, and there’s some info on USASA.org too.

Thanks again, good luck, and let us know if you have any questions after reviewing everything + all the links on USASA.org,
