Join us for Central Oregon USASA Boardercross + Skiercross 1 & 2 at Woodward Bachelor January 8 (BXSX 1) and January 9 (BXSX 2)!!! We will be racing this year against other competitors! As you know, there’s lots of changes + adaptations we ALL need to make this year, so be sure to read everything and ask if you have questions (after you read 😉). Our events are for all ages and stages of riding, from comfortable beginners to advanced, and our focus is on safe, fun, innovative competitions. We’re still going to have series champions (automatic invite to USASA Nationals), so your points matter (must do both events in most disciplines to qualify for that discipline), as well as your top 3 points per discipline that will go toward National rankings. ✔️
> REGISTRATION is now open, AND closes Thursday at Noon before that weekend’s events. Like last season, registration is ONLINE ONLY, and we’re not able to do day-of registrations or changes.
📲 REGISTER for EVENTS HERE:
https://bit.ly/COUSASAEvents2022> TAKE NOTE: No one is allowed on course unless they registered online for our USASA event(s), and are a current USASA member (and new this year is that all adults must also be US Ski & Snowboard Members, including volunteers, coaches and officials). Everyone must also be approved by the Series Directors first (any media).
> EVENT LOCATION: Woodward Family Cross Course, Mt. Bachelor (rider’s right of Sunrise Chairlift above Sunrise Lodge area)
> EVENT COST: $30 online per event (non-refundable). Membership required & must be done online. (Let us know if finances are difficult.)
> CHECK-IN & DAY-OF REGISTRATION: There is no lodge check-in or day-of registration. Everything is online. Simply show up for your practice, heat, and/or time trial on time, and we’ll take roll before practices and heats. Please keep traffic & weather in mind (we do get both).
> AWARDS for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place for each age group. We’ll update you on our Zoom Rider’s Meeting about the process. There will be no large gatherings for awards per USASA’s COVID-19 Competition Guidelines (see below).
> PRIZES & SWAG: We’re striving once again to be able to give out swag to competitors day-of. We’ll update you more on our Zoom Rider’s Meeting. (If you know of any businesses that would like to partner, please let us know! And thanks again to our sponsors…so go “Like,” “Follow,” tag and interact with them, because they pay attention to it).
> USASA MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED for all riders and is done ONLINE ONLY:
https://usasa.org/members/new. Also, please make sure you only have 1 membership in the USASA system or it will mess up your points and the system. Also make sure your series says: “Central Oregon USASA” if Mt. Bachelor / Bend, OR area is considered your “home” and you consider COUSASA your “home series.”
> RIDER’S MEETINGS: These are MANDATORY and online again this year, usually at 7 pm on Thursday’s before that weekend’s events. Parents encouraged to attend with their riders. We will have drawings for those in attendance. We’ll send out the Zoom link to your membership email after registration closes (again, make sure the email is correct and you don’t miss this so you can compete).
> MINI-RIDERS MEETING: On-course, day-of.
> WAIVERS: Mt Bachelor’s are included with your season pass or competition ticket.
> DISCOUNTED LIFT TICKETS: Bring your USASA Bib to the ticket counter and you’ll get a competition ticket for $56 (13+ yrs old) and $46 (6-12 yrs old).
> BIBS: We have brand new Bibs this season from BlackStrap for all of USASA! We will send out pick up locations shortly…so stay tuned. Take Note: This will be your bib for the rest of the season…so don’t forget it. If you get a bib and you’re in another series, please let us know what #, since that’s your permanent bib. There will be a $20 fee if you forget or lose your bib and need a replacement. Bibs will need to be returned at the end of the season.
> SPECTATING: Is allowed, but must be outside the course and respect the roped off areas please.
> FOOD & DRINKS: Pack your lunch and hydration, or buy from the lodge or food carts up there (Have you tried Dump City Dumplings food cart?).
> USASA COVID-19 Competition Guidelines: Please read through the guidelines for this season if you haven’t already; it’s something you and your athlete need to be familiar with:
https://usasa.org/covid-19 (Note: State & local regulations, and mountain policies supersede USASA Guidelines).
> TEAM APP: This is the main way we will communicate, esp day-of. Please sign up (AND ensure your cell # AND email are updated), pick our series, and add a note why (competitor, parent, etc…since membership isn’t public).
https://centraloregonusasa.teamapp.com/> COMPETITIONS, HEATS & PROCESSES: In general, we will have practice, the go into the heats. For BXSX, we will have practice, then time trials (an individual drop for your best time for seeding), then racing against other riders in your age group. Be diligent about showing up on time so you don’t miss your practice or drop times. Take Note: No one will be allowed on course unless they’re registered members of USASA, or they’re mountain staff.
> SAFESPORT: Any competitors, volunteers, coaches, officials…If you’re 18 years and older (and/or if turning 18 yrs. old mid-season) you must complete SafeSport per the USOC.
